Giraffe
The Giraffe, the tallest of all land-living animal species lives as part of a herd and can be seen in groups ranging from two up to fifty. These gentle giants are a symbol of strength and beauty throughout the world. Statistics show there are only about 445 Ugandan giraffes left in the wild. Giraffes are hunted for their tails, hides and meat. The tails are used as good luck charms, thread and flyswatters. In addition, habitat destruction also hurts the giraffe. Population totals are severely fragmented today largely due to poor conservation efforts as well as extreme pressure on resources.
