Polar Bear

Polar Bears live largely in the arctic and surrounding lands and are a vital participant of the health of that ecosystem. Though they are solitary, they have been known to play excessively. They are deft swimmers going as far as 200 miles out from land. However, a lot more swimming is required in recent times due to the receding ice shelfs of the Arctic. Polar Bears are the primary victims of climate change. As it stands, if the trends hold, they will be vulnerable to extinction. They are officially listed as a threatened species under the US Endangered Species Act. According to WWF 8 of the 19 polar bear subpopulations are decreasing in population triggering a cause of concern.
