Since sweltering August is generally associated with its astrological fire sign, Leo/Singha, we’ve decided to dedicate our newest pattern to the Lion. The Lion is globally recognized as the “King of the Jungle” with its very distinctive and recognizable features. A symbol of regalness throughout human history, the once powerful and mighty beast is now dwindling in population and is in danger. In an effort to raise awareness about the plight of lions, we now have a brand new organic shirt available in our store that we hope gives the great cat the respect & love it deserves while making you look mighty sharp as well.

Fresh off the silkscreens, preparing for a cool, aquatic July, we introduce our newest addition to the EcoPatterns family: the Marine Turtle Pattern as we shift our attention to the sea. Marine turtles have lived in the oceans for over 100 million years. They are an integral part of the traditional culture of many coastal indigenous peoples throughout the world. However, they are now a critically endangered species. Help us spread awareness of the plight of these endangered animals with our newest organic shirt available now!

A little over a year ago, we started EcoPatterns with a modest goal and budget. Over the course of the year, we were lucky enough to experience several ups and very little downs as this little business slowly matured. We’ve seen our website go through several incarnations early on until settling into a “safe” look. Fast forward to June 2009, our birthday month. We decided that we would give ourselves a little treat for our first birthday – a website facelift. We overhauled the back-end and transitioned to wordpress for more seamless editing. This should give us better flexibility to expand as we look forward to the years ahead.

So what’s cooking these days? Well, we have a slew of new colors and patterns that you should browse. We are also jumpstarting the fall-line with some long-sleeve scoop-necks as well. EcoPatterns also has a cute little setup in the Union Square Farmer’s/Artist’s Market – you can find us every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (weather permitting). Stop by and say hi!
